The best episodes of Love, Death & Robots, if you’ve never seen Love, Death & Robots

Love, death and robots: is based on two of the most recurring arguments in plays, books and films, with the addition of an ingredient that smacks of the future, one of the strangest and most curious series produced by Netflix in recent years.

Is called Love, Death & Robotsthe third season is available from 20 May and it is an anthology of unrelated stories of varying length, all generally very short (even less than 7 minutes) and almost all set in an ugly, dystopian and not at all reassuring future. Come Black Mirrorbut worse.

Love, Death & Robots is an animated series: the episodes are made in the most diverse styles, from the most cartoonish to computer graphics, and in some the level of care and quality is such that in the first few minutes it is hard to believe that the protagonists are not real actors. In total, the episodes of the first two seasons are 26: they are almost all pleasant and interesting, but some more than others. Which is why on this page we have prepared a guide for taking the first steps into the disturbing future imagined by David Fincher e Tim Miller.

With a warning: there is no need to be frightened if the episodes reported as “best” are few in relation to the total, because (with few exceptions) more or less all bets of Love, Death & Robots they are actually worth a look. And it also matters little that only a couple of season 2 are reported, because those two alone (above all Pop Squad) are worth the trip.

Love, Death & Robots, the best episodes of season 1

Sonny’s Advantage
First episode and sort of business card of the series, it talks about the sport of the future, clandestine fighting, mind control and consciousness transfer. Which is a great way to start.

Three robots
And the manifesto episode of Love, Death & Robots, the one you think of when you think of this serial: 3 robots explore the ruins of a city after the disappearance of the human race of the Earth. They will find out what happened to people and also what do kittens have to do with it (which are not always cuddly and tender).

The witness
An episode all action and adrenaline, with a girl who runs away from an (alleged) murderer after witnessing a murder. Nothing more can be said in order not to spoil the ending, except that the fulcrum of everything is a sort of time loop.

Beyond Aquila
A topos of the classic science fiction in what is probably the most sci-fi episode of all: a journey into space, a hibernating crew, awakening once they arrive at their destination. But that’s not where it should be. Nor when it should be.

Love, Death & Robots, the best episodes of season 2

Pop Squad
In a city reminiscent of the Los Angeles of Blade Runnera cop who resembles Rick Deckard’s Blade Runner has an unhappy task: he has to kill the children. There are no resources on Earth for everyone, medicine and progress have made adults virtually immortal, but there is no room for newcomers. Perhaps the best episode of the first two seasons of the series.

Snow in the desert
Graphically flawless, it tells the story of a man who hides a genetic secret that everyone wants to get hold of and that many are willing to kill to obtain. All in a suggestive setting, between frenetic fights and also a very particular lovestory

The other episodes

As mentioned, 6 out of 26 bets may seem few, but it should be borne in mind that these are only the ones that stand out: the offer of Love, Death & Robots it is so diverse that it certainly offers something for everyone. And there are pleasing and interesting episodes even beyond those highlighted here, such as Good hunting, Shapeshifter o Winter Blue (season 1) or Ice o Tall grass (season 2).
