In March, Google proudly announced that its Chrome browser is already the fastest browser on macOS, and this has been verified by Apple’s benchmarking tool Speedometer. This tool is dedicated to testing browser responsiveness. And just today, the company announced more impressive results from the world‘s most-used browser: Chrome on the Mac is now 20 percent faster than it was in March.
It is worth mentioning that since the launch of Chrome in 2008, this simple and efficient web browsing tool is characterized by simplicity, and the pursuit of speed has led our work. And not so long ago, the software had the highest score on Apple’s Speedometer – now Chrome is 20% more responsive on the Mac, with a score of over 360.
Speed has shaped our work since #Chrome’s launch in 2008. Three months ago, we recorded the highest score on Apple’s Speedometer — and now, Chrome is 20% faster on Mac, scoring over 360. pic.twitter.com/FO3t06c9p3

This time Chrome’s score exceeded 360 points, a 20% increase from the 300 points of Chrome 99 three months ago.
Although the official did not announce more technical insider details, it is not clear which key performance improvements are made. But as you can see from the side profile, Safari scored 277 last time, and if you can assume that Chrome 102 scored 360 this time, that means it was probably a new version released a few weeks ago.
Chrome 99’s performance advantage is due to ThinLTO build optimization technology, the V8 Sparkplug compiler, and shorter built-in calls. It remains to be seen what changes lead to the latest boost. And throughout Chrome’s biggest selling point is its multi-process architecture, which protects the browser from crashing due to malicious web pages and applications.
