“Skills and medical art will never fail”. This was stated by the Minister of the University and Research, Maria Cristina Messa, speaking online at the inauguration in Cosenza of the first academic year of the inter-university course Unical Cosenza, Umg Catanzaro in Medicine and Surgery and Digital Technologies. “The course is extremely innovative and we need innovation – said the minister who, due to a misunderstanding, could not be present in Calabria – and I believe that we must recover all that has not been done in recent years”.

The minister underlined that in the PNRR there is great space for digital and green, and many investments are dedicated to teacher training, starting with digital skills. “I hope that this course, a beautiful idea, – said the minister – will be a stimulus for students not only for the amount of credits they have to achieve, but also to understand how these skills are necessary and required all over the world. , to increase and develop research more and more.

Upon completion of the studies, a double qualification is obtained: the master’s degree in Medicine and Surgery and the three-year degree in Computer Engineering, bioinformatics curriculum. The rector of Unical, Nicola Leone, and also the rector of Magna Graecia, Giovambattista De Sarro participated in the ceremony. A lectio magistralis on artificial intelligence was held by the rector Leone, awaiting the minister’s intervention via streaming. Meanwhile, outside the main hall of the University of Cosenza, a group of students had gathered to demonstrate. Students ask that the right to study be guaranteed and that there is also security for the granting of scholarships.
