For the second consecutive year the Santa Chiara Lab – University of Siena was content partner of the Maker Faire Rome. During the 2021 edition the Santa Chiara Lab presented two projects: “Siena Food Lab” and “Oxistress”.
Siena Food Lab, in collaboration with the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation, was among the protagonists of the “agrofood maker” section. In the stand, in addition to in-depth information on the project, the public was able to see some examples of innovative technologies applied to agriculture, thanks to the presence of the scientific and technological partners, Agricolus and IBF Servizi. Make way for sensors, drones, digital platforms for field mapping, forecasting models, remote sensing, sampling methods to discover all the advantages and opportunities of precision agriculture and the positive effects on local communities.
The stand by Lab Vr, the virtual reality laboratory of the University of Siena, then presented Oxistress, a virtual reality educational game of scientific dissemination, developed in collaboration with the Department of Molecular and Developmental Medicine – University of Siena. Through storytelling and play, the project disseminated the results of the research investigating the relationship between dietary fatty acids and male fertility. The Vr Lab of the center is led by Professor Alessandro Innocenti, which has put together a transversal team of researchers to focus on AR (Augmented Reality) and VR as a tool to innovate teaching and improve everyday life.
