the Municipality is aiming for new resources from the NRP

GALLIPOLI – The aim is to improve services for families and schools. The Municipality aims to channel new resources by leveraging the specific measures implemented by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr).

A new municipal nursery school in via Milizia (where a new sports field is already being built) and the renovation of the school gym in via Gorizia: these are the two projects with which the municipal administration of Mayor Stefano Minerva participates in the public notice drawn up as part of the NRP and in particular in response, respectively, to the mission relating to the enhancement of the offer of education services and the plan for infrastructures for sports in schools.

By participating in the public announcement, the municipal administration is betting on strengthening the school patrimony, hoping to equip the city with the first public nursery school in the area and also enriching the offer of sports facilities.

The first project, for which a loan of 890,000 euros is requested, involves the construction of a new kindergarten with access from via Francesco Milizia, near the market area. The intervention involves the construction of a single building, capable of hosting 60 children, with spaces designed to stimulate creativity and sociability. Not a simple classroom but a single integrated space in which the micro-environments are aimed at diversified activities.

“A real turning point in the field of public services” comments the mayor, “a new municipal asylum that translates into an important response for citizens who are now forced to turn to private realities for the 0 to 2 year range”.

The second intervention proposal concerns the “Sofia Stevens” primary school in via Gorizia and in particular the gymnasium rooms. The building renovation project requires an expense of over 326 thousand euros and therefore affects the rooms, for the activity room, changing rooms, bathrooms, storage, infirmary and teaching room. The premises were built in the early 70s as a completion of the existing school structure and the last and only extraordinary maintenance intervention dates back to 2003.

With this intervention, therefore, we intend to carry out all those works necessary for functional restoration, adaptation to sector standards, the elimination of architectural barriers and internal finishing works aimed at the enjoyment of the public good in safety and sanitary conditions appropriate. .

“There will be no shortage of interventions to adapt the changing rooms, fire-fighting and technological systems and a substantial purchase of equipment aimed at completing the preparation of the room for activities” explains the deputy mayor Riccardo Cuppone with responsibility for public works and sport, “the equipment for mini volleyball and mini basketball fields, medical balls, trampolines, platforms, carpets, boards is in fact foreseen. The structure stands, in our project, as a future point of reference for sports activities, including extra-curricular ones, at the service of citizens “. The outcome of the proposals will be announced by the summer. The projects, if funded, will be implemented by 2026.
