The new ten commandments will come to us with a video

by admin

The tablets of the law, where they were written the ten commandments, were of stone. I think if god wanted to send us a new message today he would send us a video. It seems clear to me that the strength of the written word is slowly waning.

Yes I know that I still write, I write articles every day, but I can not pretend nothing has happened. It’s time for videos. I will avoid bombastic and definitive expressions such as “goodbye to writing”, but some facts I would like to try to line it up For two years, the most downloaded social network from the stores has been TikTok, where you communicate through short videos, but not very short, often funny, but not only, there are all kinds. The creators, so the users are called, don’t have to write anything: they register while they talk, sing, dance, play, explain, teach, cook or they say mass (yes there are also priests).

To give an idea of the extent of the phenomenon I will add that according to the latest statistics people spend more time on TikTok every day than on any other social network, including Netflix. Given the trend, a few days ago the head of Instagram announced that the social media of stars and influencers will no longer be mainly made up of photos, but of videos: the so-called Reel will become increasingly important. And this is the second clue.

The third concerns YouTube, where videos have always been the only content, but videos that go strong are short: and therefore launched Shorts, a new section of short videos.

The last clue concerns news sites: the most successful contents are almost always not read, they are seen: they are videos. If you are only interested in traffic data, if you can tell a story with a video, do it. All this suggests that we are changing, not so slowly, the tools of communication. Writing is not dead, indeed the sales figures of the books are still excellent, but the new generations prefer to inform themselves and entertain themselves with videos. Better if short.

This does not seem to me irrelevant nor without consequences. Better to know. I’ll make a video of it.
