the Region “pushes” the fourth dose for the elderly and the frail

The Region urges the fourth dose for patients at risk: the formal communication has reached the health authorities, health workers and general practitioners to relaunch the campaign for the second booster for subjects over 80 and over 60 with frailty.

As explained by the deputy governor with responsibility for Health Riccardo Riccardi, “in Friuli Venezia Giulia, to date, 14 thousand doses have been injected on an estimated audience of 105 thousand subjects to be vaccinated. To this data must be added the scientific evidence on the increase in efficacy. of the vaccine after a second booster against symptomatic forms, hospitalizations and severe forms of disease and in the prevention of deaths “.

The Deputy Governor also speaks of a “low rate of adverse events found in field studies in this population group”, and recommends that all general practitioners, specialists and all healthcare professionals who have contact with these patients actively advise the second booster of vaccination. In detail, it is reiterated that candidate patients are people who have been subjected to the first booster for at least 4 months (120 days) and have not contracted Covid after the administration of the first booster dose and, moreover, must possess certain requirements: personal data ( born in 1942 or earlier), residential (guests in facilities for the elderly) and frailty (born in 1962 or earlier with a pathology included in the ministry’s list).

Citizens falling into the categories and who do not reside in residential facilities for the elderly will be able to book vaccination with the means activated for the campaign (call center, Cup, webapp, pharmacies). Citizens over 60 with frailty must fill in the form indicating the pathology they suffer from, available on all company websites at this link, and take it with them to the vaccination center.
