The romantic site that sends postcards for free

The romantic site that sends postcards for free

I don’t know if one day we will really have to explain that for a year we went around with the green pass (I think rather that after the success of this experiment similar instruments will become more and more popular). I know, however, that I have a hard time explaining to my children that we used to send postcards to each other. We went on vacation and bought packs of postcards to send greetings and kisses to friends and family. They disappeared with smartphones, postcards.

They have become the photos that we take when we want and that we immediately share in chat and on social networks. A few days ago, however, I rediscovered them. There is a nice site (inkii.com) that offers to send postcards for you. Free. And not just any postcards, landscapes and views of the Miramonti hotel from who knows what location. No, author postcards. Every month there is the work of a young artist, you write the text you want to appear on the back and the postcard leaves.

It is a romantic idea to send a postcard still today: it means at the same time giving up the instantaneity of a message on Whatsapp but also its volatility: the postcard is a physical object, which lasts, you can keep it. I don’t know how this site will go: it can certainly be a useful tool for artists who want to promote and for museums that want to be known. In the meantime, I sent the first postcard to my mom, but then I stopped. I realized that I no longer remember the addresses of my friends: once they were all marked on paper notebooks that we carried with us but now smartphones do everything: they store phone numbers, which we therefore no longer remember; and take us to our destination with maps without the need to store an address. Smartphones change not only our way of thinking, but also our memory, the things we need to remember. I would like to receive a postcard with the addresses of my closest friends.
