OSTUNI – The Municipal Council of Ostuni has approved the participation in the regional tender “From confiscated property to reused property” for the project of the “Center for aggregation and social inclusion (Cai)” for a total amount of 982.720 euros. The intervention concerns the recovery for social use, after a series of restructuring interventions, of a property located in the Rosara district, confiscated from an exponent of organized crime, with confiscation order n. 69 of 13.12.2010 in favor of the State Treasury, and transferred by decree of 2015 to the unavailable assets of the Municipality of Ostuni, following an expression of interest by the same Municipality with a note of 16.05.2014.
In particular, the project involves the renovation of the existing building aimed at creating a center for youth aggregation and social inclusion (CAI). Therefore, in addition to carrying out interventions aimed at the structural recovery of the building, a series of interventions will be carried out aimed at making the same building suitable and functional for the new destination.
In detail, within the structure, spread over two levels, the project involves the use of the rooms with the following purposes: in the basement, the construction of a small theater – theatrical laboratory, in addition to the construction of a gym “without barriers “Also equipped with aids for the disabled; on the mezzanine floor, the recovered spaces will be destined to host a relaxation-meeting reading room, a computer-digital laboratory with the relative use of digital devices for the creation and management of websites for local companies and a typography service, and other laboratories in which intended for the training of young people in relation to the recovery of traditional activities (dry stone walls, lime painting, etc….).
The outdoor area will be used for outdoor activities aimed at the psycho-physical well-being of the person, with spaces dedicated to sports activities, after the creation of a multipurpose field, spaces dedicated to pet therapy, as well as a space dedicated to organic horticulture. of typical products of the Ostuni area. Furthermore, the construction of a sidewalk is planned to connect the entrance of the building with the parking area immediately behind the town, along the municipal connecting road, currently without sidewalk, for a length of about 500 meters. Finally, after arranging the land, a multipurpose field will be built with relative flooring, fencing, lighting system and equipment. The structure will be made totally accessible with the removal of architectural barriers.
