The director general of prevention of the Ministry of Health said today, answering a question from us during the press conference on monitoring: “The vaccine booster will be made available to all operators shortly, as soon as the vaccination of over 80s and guests of the Rsa “. And then on the concomitant administration of Covid and flu vaccines: “It is not certain that we will make a real recommendation but at least it will be a possibility offered above all to some categories of the population and to contribute to the success of a double vaccination campaign”.
01 OTT – “For health workers, the vaccination obligation was foreseen for the primary cycle, so it should not be foreseen for the booster dose”. This was stated by the Director General of Prevention of the Ministry of Health, Gianni Rezza, answering a question from Health Newspaper.
“The third dose will in any case be offered to everyone, and it is hoped that a very high level of support will also be given for these recalls. The circular provides that the recall campaign to healthcare professionals will take place as soon as the administration of the booster dose for over eighty-year-olds and staff of RSA personnel is completed – added Rezza -. The circular currently recommends, on the advice of Cts and Aifa, to start administering a booster dose to health professionals over 60 or frail and to those particularly exposed. But I repeat the third dose is available to everyone, without obligation because the obligation is always a last resort, but certainly highly recommended and we hope there will be a very high level of adherence ”.
“It is good that healthcare professionals are always covered by the infection, keeping the antibody titer high is good for them but also for the patients they are in contact with,” he added.
Towards concomitant administration of Covid vaccine and influenza. “Many countries have begun to recommend or in any case ‘not’ advise against the flu vaccine even in conjunction with that for Covid. And this both in the US, in the UK and in Germany. There is still a pronouncement from international regulatory bodies such as Ema but the Ministry of Health is studying this possibility together with Aifa. It is not certain that we will make a real recommendation but at least it will be a possibility offered above all to some categories of the population and to contribute to the success of a double vaccination campaign “, concluded Rezza .
