Hydration is a fundamental aspect to keep our body healthy and in summer it is even more so. With high temperatures we eliminate a significant amount of sweat and lose many nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals, which must be replenished.

The daily water requirement, at these times of the year, therefore, could be higher than normal, even if we are not thirsty we should hydrate. This does not mean preparing infinite quantities of fizzy and sugary drinks, which would not be indicated among other things in case of scorching heat.

Fruits and vegetables come directly from Nature to help, genuine ingredients that could help us feel less hot and keep the body hydrated. They are remarkably rich in minerals and nutrients useful for staying in shape and having the right energy charge.

Sometimes drinking just water can be a little tiring and, at certain times of the day, it might be nice to taste a different taste. There are, for example, many flavored waters that would be an excellent alternative to plain water. Instead, let’s avoid excessive use of industrial fruit juices, which have a rather high sugar level.

To supplement the minerals, without drinking caloric drinks, we could instead make a healthy and easy-to-prepare drink, also suitable for children. The main ingredient is pineapple, a typically tropical fruit, with a sugary flavor, with some more acidulous and very juicy notes. 100 grams of fruit contain about 40 calories, 250 grams of potassium, vitamin A, B6, C, folate, bromelain, niacin, calcium, phosphorus, manganese, iron.

  • 200 gr of pineapple pulp;

  • 3 tablespoons of lemon juice;
  • a teaspoon of honey;
  • mint leaves.

Blend the pulp together with the lemon juice and honey, adding a little cold water to the thicket. We can then filter the mix or leave it thicker, fill the bottle and then serve in the glass with a little ice and fresh mint leaves.
