The super technology that car manufacturers are applying in the electrification sector continues to reserve surprises: Mercedes on its new E Coupé 350 EQ-Boost paves the way for the new course of sporty hybrids. Like? By effectively hiding the very same hybrid technology – never too much loved by a large group of motorists – making their E Coupe look like a classic petrol car. The thrust of the small electric module is there but you never feel it, the magic of the 48 Volt mild hybrid power system now refined to work – in fact – just as if it did not exist. We talked about displacement and here is the second technological marvel of the E Coupé 350 EQ-Boost: the engine is a normal 2000 4-cylinder but behaves (and sometimes sounds) like a six-cylinder. The “Energizing” packages, for example, offer many tools to relax, such as music and sound, mood lighting and seat massages. And all the functions – here’s the idea – are grouped into packages adapted to the mood of the moment of the driver. Each program is aimed at wellness and helps reduce stress.
To understand this, the “Energizing” Comfort programs are “Freshness”, “Vitality”, “Training” (video instructions showing, for example, how to loosen the muscles, obviously available only when the car is stationary), “Tips” (audio information of the duration of three minutes to promote health and well-being every day; for the head, shoulders, torso, lower back and pelvis) and “PowerNap” (only for hybrid or fully electric models and only for cars stop). Easy to say, complicated to make: to achieve this, active Multicontour front seats with 14 separately adjustable air chambers have been developed, for 8 different programs with a relaxing, stimulating or energizing effect, which can be set to two levels of intensity. , lasting 12-15 minutes. Two programs also allow you to take advantage of the effect of heat, inspired by the principle of massages with hot stones.
And, as if that were not enough, then there is the “air-balance” package to perfume, ionize and purify the air and automatically launch atmospheric lighting in the passenger compartment with specific scenarios depending on the program. To work, the system has a perfume diffuser with bottle and head in the glovebox, an ionizer in the channel of the side air vents and an air filter system between the intake area and the air conditioning distribution system.
Things that are then reflected in driving with the adaptive adjustable suspension, the nine-speed automatic transmission and the individual driving programs, all managed in the same way, unifying the functions, to ensure an even more dynamic and above all comfortable ride. The idea of unifying the environments of one’s life also contributes to the concept of redefining comfort. As they explain to Mercedes: “Home. Office. Or both “. In other words, to make the car respond to the driver’s commands, just say “Hey Mercedes” and the “MBUX” multimedia system adapts on the fly to the differences that each driver has of interacting with his or her car. All navigation, comfort and maintenance data, accident management, remote vehicle diagnosis and the software update of the machine are accessed remotely.
