Uber seeks new avenues after the pandemic

by admin

Uber is rolling out new features in its app to allow U.S. customers to book appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine and book rental cars. It will be possible to book an appointment at a Walgreens pharmacy for the vaccine and a ride with Uber to get there, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said at an online event. The feature, which expands a deal between Uber and Walgreens announced in February, reflects the increased availability of COVID-19 vaccines in the United States, where every state has opened vaccinations to all adults.

For Uber, more vaccinations mean a faster return to racing than before the pandemic, and therefore more revenue, after the collapses due to the health crisis. Business is already starting to improve, and March was the best month since the pandemic broke out.

The company also announced partnerships with Avis, Hertz and other vehicle rental agencies. US customers can now book rental cars through the Uber app, with discounts of up to 10 percent as credit to spend on other Uber services.

Other Uber news for this year were presented at the event. Some services will also arrive in Italy; here they are in detail:

  • Delivery. New ways to order in the best way for each user will be announced: scheduled orders, multiple orders at once (supermarket + meals etc); new orders in addition from another seller at no additional cost, and even orders when the resellers are closed
  • Pick Up and Go. Now, along the way, with Pickup and Go, you will be able to see the restaurants and merchants near your destination and place an order for pickup, whether it’s a bottle of wine, milk or dinner.
  • Savings Hub. Savings Hub will be introduced on Eats which will bring together all the offers, bargains and discounts available in one place. Through restaurant loyalty programs it will also be possible to track future discounts.
