Ubisoft says it won’t arbitrarily reject takeover bid – Gamereactor

Ever since Microsoft announced its intention to acquire Activision Blizzard last month, we’ve known that nothing is impossible when it comes to acquiring a video game company. As we wrote about last month, Ubisoft would actually be one of the cheaper publishers to buy, at a fraction of what Activision Blizzard did.

But it was only a few years ago that Ubisoft struggled not to be acquired by Vivendi, and used every trick to avoid it. Most assumed they were still going the independent route, but it appears Ubisoft has reconsidered. Late yesterday, at a Ubisoft meeting, boss Yves Guillemot SayThey do not rule out remaining independent, but they also do not automatically reject attempts to takeover offers from others and will review proposals.

We don’t yet know if any talks to buy Ubisoft exist, but if someone offers a good deal, Ubisoft seems willing to consider being part of a larger enterprise.
