He died at the age of seven Mathias Ceron. The little boy from Noale, in the province of Venice, had been suffering since he was three months old from an illness that still remains unnamed. Mathias was quadriplegic, blind and with a delay in cognitive development. For seven years the little one was followed bypediatric hospice of Padua: “We were taken care of by pediatrics and neurologists who, in the absence of a diagnosis, tried to tackle the problem from a clinical point of view”, say father Emanuele and mother Michela after having lost their son on Saturday. Mathias also suffered from epilepsy, but no one has been able to diagnose the disease to date.
“We have done all possible and existing exams but it is not the disease has never been identified“, confirm the parents. In February the little one had been admitted to intensive care and the situation gradually worsened. Many, between associations and people, have been close to Emanuele and Michela in these difficult years. Hence a thought of thanks: “Parents who are faced with a rare disease with such a heavy burden, do not have the skills and find themselves alone. This is why the help of the associations that support the work of public health is essential. For us they have been a family “.
But not only that, because the two also appeal to the state: “We ask the institutions to invest in hospitals who deal with this area of medicine and on paediatrics in Padua, which needs it. And we invite anyone who has the opportunity to support the associations that take care of children. We thank the many people who are close to us, even friends and colleagues who we have not felt for years: we feel their affection very strongly “.
