The 12th edition of the World Congress of Snow, Mountain, and Well-being Tourism is set to take place on March 20, 21, and 22 in Andorra, with the theme “Sustainability and well-being, keys to mountain tourism.” Organized by the Government of Andorra and UN Tourism, the Congress aims to highlight the importance of sustainable tourism development in mountain areas.

According to Jordi Torres, Minister of Tourism and Commerce of Andorra, the country’s tourism promotion model has always emphasized mountain and snow tourism. Now, there is a shift to also focus on well-being attributes to meet the demands of modern travelers.

The Congress will address the essential balance between economic growth, citizen well-being, and environmental protection. It aims to promote sustainable tourism that considers social, economic, and environmental aspects for the prosperity of both residents and tourism professionals while ensuring visitor satisfaction.

UN Tourism Secretary General, Zurab Pololikashvili, emphasizes the importance of ensuring that tourism contributes to the sustainable future of mountains and benefits local communities. The Congress will feature discussions on sustainability, tourism diversification, training, and innovation in mountain destinations.

Experts in wellness tourism, such as Lászlo Puczko and Joan Muro, will share their experiences during the event. The focus will also be on thermal tourism, with insights from Csilla Mezősi of the European Spas Association.

Representatives from Best Tourism Villages recognized by UN Tourism will showcase success stories from Saas-Fee, St. Anton am Arlberg, and Ordino. Sustainability initiatives, education, and sports in mountain tourism will also be key topics of discussion.
