Vedano al Lambro: elementary school canteen and gym closed for safety reasons
The new mayor Marco Merlini signed two ordinances: the canteen of the primary school in via Monti and the gym in via Italia were closed for safety reasons following the detachment of a slab (in the canteen) and some sound-absorbing panels (in the gym ).
The pupils of the elementary school in via Monti, in Vedano al Lambro, will have to have lunch for some time in their classrooms: on Monday 25 October the mayor Marco Merlini signed the order to close the refectory following the detachment of part of the roof slab of the restaurant which occurred on Sunday. The doors of the canteen will remain barred for children and teachers “until safety conditions are fully restored”.
From today, the gym in via Italia is also closed, where, again on Sunday, the technicians of the Municipality noted the detachment of some sound-absorbing panels from the structural trellis. The measures, according to the municipality, were adopted as it is not possible “to exclude further and more serious repercussions in the remaining parts” of the two buildings.
The episodes, the elected administration attacked on 4 October, would have been caused by the “poor maintenance” of recent years. In recent weeks, the mayor and councilors have started a tour of the town’s public buildings, including municipal homes.
