NAPLES, ITALY – JULY 24: A David pin that reads “Not vaccinated” displayed by a man during a protest against the Green Pass on July 24, 2021 in Naples, Italy. The health pass, “Green Pass”, will be mandatory allowing access to museums, cinemas, gyms, swimming pools, sports stadiums and to be served at indoor tables in restaurants and bars. The pass will show that people have been vaccinated, tested negative in the last 48h or recovered from Covid-19. (Photo by Ivan Romano/Getty Images)

“To date, we have about 1,500 doctors who are still unvaccinated. But not all of them are no vax, be careful. At least 30% of these have already booked to receive the vaccination. The share of no vax ‘hard and pure’ exists but is residual, we are talking about 0.1-0.2%. And the absurdity is that we can’t get rid of them, not even those who make propaganda against vaccines ”.

This is explained to us by Filippo Anelli, president of the National Federation of the order of doctors (Fnomceo), often called into question in recent weeks for the apparent inaction of the Federation in the face of alarmist messages on the alleged danger of vaccines against Covid disclosed on social and televisions from doctors no vax. Doctors who even went so far as to publicly challenge Fnomceo herself, apparently without any reaction. But this is not really the case.

“Many of these doctors also try to ban them, but they appeal and the sanction is suspended, it never becomes effective”, explains Anelli. And so we discover that, as often happens in Italy, it is a bureaucratic problem to block the procedure. The central Commission for health professions, a body of special jurisdiction established at the Ministry of Health, whose members are appointed by decree of the President of the Cabinet.

And here is the ‘heart’ of the problem: “The Commission expired in 2020”, underlines Anelli. So the proceedings remain suspended in a sort of limbo. This explains the public provocations of those who know that they cannot – at least for the moment – be subject to disciplinary sanctions. “We tried to put pressure on this by asking both the Minister of Health Speranza and that of Justice Cartabia”, underlined President Fnomceo. And therefore the apparent inertia does not depend on the will of the medical orders but on the slowness of the government in setting up the new Commission which will have the task of judging the work of these doctors. The ball then passes to Palazzo Chigi. It will be up to President Draghi to decide whether to speed up the timing of the appointment and installation of the Commission and put an end to a dangerous dissemination of fake news, currently unpunished, with which an attempt is made to undermine the progress of the vaccination campaign, in full pandemic.
