Second suspected case
There is a second suspected case of West Nile – a 62 year old manresident in the province of Padua hospitalized since yesterday always in Piove di Sacco in intensive care, with encephalitis – for which all the necessary diagnostic tests are being carried out.

The Region: surveillance plans since spring
The Veneto Region has already activated since last spring all the surveillance plans envisaged for diseases transmitted by vectors such as West Nile, implemented by the Ulss companies in agreement with the Municipalities. The first bulletin issued, published on the Region’s websiteand – specifies the Prevention Department – it was defined yesterday, Friday 15 July, and does not contain the death of the patient formalized today. It indicates the presence of some outbreaks of infected mosquitoes, already identified in the provinces of Vicenza, Venice, Verona, Rovigo and Padua In the bulletin, the confirmed cases of West Nile with a neuroinvasive form were up to yesterday 2; a probable case of Wn fever. The Region reports that two donors were also found positive to the test through the screening that is carried out throughout the region starting from the detection of the first positivity in mosquitoes, which took place on 7 June last. The Venetian health facilities carry out the verification by blood test on all people who have symptoms attributable to West Nile and on blood donors throughout the territory.
