Salt is one of the foods with the worst reputation. It is actually critical to maintaining fluid balance, carrying nerve impulses, and supporting adequate muscle contractions
Salt and sodium are not exactly the same. The cooking salt is composed by sodium chloride not only of sodium. One teaspoon of salt contains about 2.3 grams of sodium. Often the two terms are used interchangeably, to commonly define salt, but they are not the same substance. Sodium is a component of salt, a mining which has as its main source in Western nutrition cooking salt, but exceeding the amount of sodium in the diet can have harmful effects on health.
There is actually a simple and effective method to alternate and reduce the consumption of table salt. The use of spices such as turmeric, ginger and natural substances such as pepper and chilli are very useful for enhancing the sense of flavor in foods. The latter, is missing, from the lack of use of salts but is excellently masked by chilli and various spices. Furthermore, the chili pepper in the first place, has absolutely beneficial properties for the body; specifically antiseptic vasodilators and purifiers in general.
