WhatsApp and messages that self-destruct automatically: how it works and what to watch out for

For about a year, WhatsApp allows you to send messages to a specific contact that disappear automatically after 7 days: to activate the function just tap on the contact name and check the wording Ephemeral messages. A clock icon on the contact’s photo will indicate that that chat is self-destructing the conversation.
