The car is the big star in the world of video games: Google searches around the world for “the best car racing games” in the last month have increased by 180% and a search by Uswitch reveals which cars are the most used in video games.
At the top of this singular ranking is a very normal sedan, banal and without particular performance: the Ford Crown Victoria Mk2 – which appears 635 times in video games – which even beats an absolute legend like the Mustang Mk1 (in second place with 545 appearances). The reason is that the Crown Victoria is the most used car by the police. And often also by taxi drivers. So in all video games, when it comes to chases or traffic scenes, the Ford sedan is always the star.
Then the ranking takes a more “normal” aspect, with the stable presence of supercars of all levels and grades, from the Nissan Skyline Mk1 that closes the podium to the Chevrolet Camaro or Corvette. Also interesting is the color analysis, where yellow is the most popular, followed by blue and red. In video games, the scenic aspect is very important, you know.
But how did this ranking come about? Uswitch explains that to select the most popular car brands and car models in video games, he only considered the number of appearances of each vehicle, leaving out imaginary car models and brands. This means having excluded all the models present on Mario Kart: the fantasy is never part of the statistics.
