“Woman suffering from heart attack in the square, a nurse rushes and saves her”

Letters – Vallerano – The story of the provincial president of OPI Mario Curzi: “Tommaso Deiana arrived from his home and managed the first aid”

Vallerano – We receive and publish – Sometimes it happens. It happens that you live in a small village at the foot of Mount Cimino, Vallerano, and you are walking quietly in the main square to do the shopping, when suddenly you feel your right hand tingling, an incomparable pain in the chest, a sense of anguish assails you. But you don’t have time to realize that you fall to the ground, falling to the ground: a heart attack.

Your life is hanging by a thread, indeed it would have ended there, if it weren’t for the fact that the mayor of the charming village does not know Dr. Tommaso Deiana well, who is not the general practitioner, but a health professional nurse of the regional emergency company 118 , also resident in that place, who at that moment, however, is staying at his house in complete relaxation.

And as often happens among professionals, accustomed to setting in motion mechanisms tested by years of experience and study, he quickly reaches the square, observes, evaluates the seriousness of the situation, orders the pharmacist the useful tools to intervene, sees two nearby rescue workers previously trained by him and creates a team.

They then operate a timely cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and save the woman’s life.

Help finally arrives with the ambulance, the patient appears stable and is taken to the emergency room.

This happens on a sultry afternoon in June, in a small town at the foot of Mount Cimino, when you meet a nurse on your way, Tommaso, who has put into practice an intellectual course of study carried out in his years of professional life. A university course, based on scientific evidence, on best practice, using a tool, problem solving, which allowed him to identify the most suitable sources, solutions and actions in the shortest possible time to solve the situation in the best possible way.

Who knows if this episode can dissuade those who still claim that it is enough to take “30 thousand nothing-workers and make them work as nurses”, or who still thinks that healthcare is made up of doctors and “collaborators”.

Thanks Tommaso. Thank you in the name of the person you have saved, for the family you have preserved. Thank you on behalf of the profession you represented when you acted with professionalism, science and conscience.

Yes, that’s right, sometimes it happens.
