The so-called game console battle took an unexpected turn.

Microsoft recently announced Dolby Vision for Apple TV and provided Xbox Insiders members with availability in some games.

As a reminder, Xbox consoles have already equipped several of their games with Dolby Atmos. “Gears of War 5”, “Electricity Rebel 2077” and even “Defense Time: Modern Battlefield” and other large games use this technology to achieve more spatial sound effects.

On the other hand, Dolby Vision is even rarer. Logically speaking, it is sufficient, because this system basically allows more information to be displayed on the screen by dynamically adjusting the light throughout the game. Although the 4K/120 Hz Dolby Vision is not yet open, LG promised to “soon” bring these features to their latest OLED 2021 TVs.

Now Xbox France has announced that Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision will be exclusive to Xbox consoles for two years, which means that these features will not be available on PS5 until 2023 at the earliest.

Obviously, players will not be able to enjoy this feature on a screen that does not support Dolby Vision, but this is still an interesting addition and an interesting twist. After acquiring the exclusive rights to the console, Microsoft is taking steps to lock in the technology. We would like to know how players and their competitors will view this matter and how they will react.
