Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has started trial production in Turkey. This was announced today by the Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology, Mustafa Varank. “Xiaomi has started trial production at the factory built with global supplier Salcomp. Welcome XiaomiTurkiye,” Varank announced on his Twitter profile. The Turkish minister has published several photos showing his visit to the factory. Varank posed for the cameras holding a Xiaomi smartphone together with the plant’s employees. Once fully operational, the minister said, according to reports from the Turkish state news agency Anadolu, 2,000 people will find new job opportunities at the plant. “The plant will have a production capacity of 5 million smartphones per year,” Varank added.
The Salcomp company, based in Finland, is one of the world‘s leading manufacturers of charging and power products. Xiaomi, according to Teknosafari, an online world news platform on technology, became the best-selling smartphone brand in Turkey in the third quarter of 2020, which covers the months of July, August and September. The sales graph developed by the platform revealed how Xiaomi has achieved an annual market share of 26% and a growth of 340%.
