During last Sunday’s Xbox and Bethesda Games showcase, we learned that you’ll be able to build your own spaceship in Starfield, and there are fairly advanced tools at your disposal to make this beneficial.
But what if you visit New Atlantis and see a really cool spaceship and want it badly? Well, it’s a Bethesda game after all, and there are few limits, so you can always try to steal it. Bethesda veteran Pete Hines revealed this recently when talking about stealing ships, saying:
“We don’t want to put too many restrictions on who the players are or what they’re not allowed to do. We like players to say, ‘I wonder what would happen if…’ and they try.
This means players can go on a very different journey through the adventure, with someone building a really spectacular ship, while others choose to break the law and steal what they want. Hines imagined how a discussion between two gamers doing things differently might sound:
“Oh yeah, I just ran in and stole a boat, shot all the crew, and took off. Like… can you do it? You can do anything. I think it’s A special section of the Bethesda Game Studios game.
Of course, if you’ve played a Bethesda RPG before, you also know that this behavior does have consequences. It remains to be seen what happens when you steal someone’s spaceship.
Starfield will launch on PC and Xbox Series S/X in the first half of 2023.
