SAN DANIELE. She was pedaling along the former provincial road 5, in the municipality of San Daniele, when she was hit by a car that was unable to avoid her.
The collision was so violent that for the cyclist, a 17-year-old girl living in Sedegliano, the consequences were immediately very serious.
So much so that at first the worst was feared.
The girl, taken to the Udine hospital by helicopter, immediately sent by the Sores center in Palmanova having understood the gravity of the situation, is hospitalized in very serious conditions in the intensive care unit.
The terrible accident took place around 4 pm along the former provincial road 5, the road that connects Rodeano Alto to San Daniele, at the intersection with via Ortigara and not far from the Al Baccaro prosciutteria tavern.
A high-flow route and already the scene of numerous serious accidents.
An Audi A1, driven by a 34-year-old from Rignano – her initials SQ -, while traveling in the direction of Rodeano, hit the girl, who was riding her bicycle, with her right side.
The 17-year-old, based on an initial reconstruction of the facts, first ended up on the windshield of the car and then was dragged for a few meters, finally ruining on the ground.
In the impact with the car and the asphalt, the young woman hit her head, causing a head injury, as well as other serious injuries.
The driver of the Audi, unharmed but in shock, stopped to give help and immediately afterwards the medical staff intervened with an ambulance and a helicopter.
With the latter, given the seriousness in which her health conditions appeared, the girl was immediately taken to the Santa Maria della Misericordia in Udine.
In addition, the volunteer firefighters of San Daniele arrived on site to secure the road, closed to traffic until the end of the rescue operations.
The findings of the accident were instead carried out by the municipal police of San Daniele.
