Integration of Decades of Commitment: 2023 China New Media Conference held in Changsha
Huasheng Online, July 12th – The 2023 China New Media Conference took place in Changsha, Hunan Province on July 12. The event was attended by Li Shulei, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, who also delivered a keynote speech.
Other prominent figures who attended the conference included Shen Xiaoming, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Sun Yeli, Vice Minister of the Central Propaganda Department and Director of the State Council Information Office, He Ping, Chairman of the China Journalists Association, and Mao Weiming, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor of the Province. The opening ceremony was presided over by Liu Siyang, secretary of the party group and vice chairman of the China Journalists Association.
During the conference, participants acknowledged the significance of this year as the 10th anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instruction to “accelerate the integration and development of traditional media and new media”. They praised the news front for implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions and achieving remarkable results in media integration. The omnimedia base has continually expanded, and phenomenon-level integrated media products have emerged, effectively spreading the party’s voice through network channels.
Furthermore, the guests highlighted the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China’s grand blueprint for promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-style modernization. They emphasized the journalists’ responsibility to implement the spirit of the congress, shoulder the new cultural mission, and contribute to the modern civilization of the Chinese nation. They called for adherence to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the promotion of media integration to a new level. This integrated development will improve the dissemination of mainstream public opinion, leadership, influence, and credibility, providing strong public opinion support for the construction of a strong country and national rejuvenation.
The conference was attended by more than 800 representatives from relevant central departments, provincial and municipal Party Committee Propaganda Departments, central and local news units, website platforms, journalism colleges, and research institutions. It was organized by the Central Propaganda Department, co-organized by the All-China Journalists Association and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government.
