25-year-old mountaineer from Parmesan dies on the Coca lace in Bergamo

by admin

Tragedy in the mountains: a young 25-year-old mountaineer from Parma, DC the initials, lost his life after a fall on Pizzo Coca, in Val Bondione (Bergamo).

Only on Friday evening was the body of the boy recovered who had fallen on Thursday afternoon while hiking up the mountain in the Scalve valley.

The recovery took place over 24 hours after the alarm was raised around 7 pm on Thursday evening for the young man’s failure to return to the base: the fault of the weather, which prevented rescuers from reaching the lifeless body of the 25-year-old, which had in any case been identified 24 hours earlier, around 11 pm, when the boy’s cell phone was heard by an Alpine Rescue team.

The technicians descended along a very inaccessible channel, descending for several tens of meters, until they spotted the young man’s body, which was about eighty meters below.

However, the weather conditions made it impossible to get close to where he was. The body was thus recovered only when the weather improved, or just before 20 on Friday evening.

The Alpine Rescue, sixth Orobica delegation, was alerted on Thursday evening around 7 pm for failure to return. The teams left immediately and from the base of Caiolo (Sondrio) the Areu helicopter rescue took off and attempted a first approach, however prevented by the thick fog.

About half an hour later the helicopter from Brescia arrived and flew over but with negative results. The vehicle then brought the territorial teams of the Valbondione station up to altitude, one on the top of Pizzo Coca and the other in a lower pitch.
