UDINE. Post-Covid syndrome, i.e. the presence of one or more specific symptoms related to the disease, is present in 40% of those who have been officially declared cured of the virus.

These numbers were presented on Tuesday 25 May by Carlo Tascini, again during the hearing in the 3rd Commission.

The director of the Infectious Diseases clinic of the Udine hospital, in particular, illustrated the results of a study carried out during the first wave and which, in fact, shows that 40.1% of patients suffer from the so-called post-Covid syndrome .

Furthermore, Tascini’s work is aimed at identifying the presence of factors that can predict the persistence of symptoms after recovery from the acute phase of coronavirus as well as assessing the possible association between serological response and post-Covid-19 syndrome.

In detail, out of one thousand 67 Covid patients, 599 responded to the interview, of which 231 performed the serological follow-up six months from the time the questions were asked.

90% of the nearly 600 patients had symptoms during the acute phase and 10% were positive, but asymptomatic and among these few showed the most evident post-Covid syndrome, instead, in the symptomatic ones.

The most frequent symptoms were fatigue, anosmia, dysgeusia, neurological and rheumatological symptoms, dyspnoea.

Of the 599, as mentioned, 40.1% had at least one post-Covid symptom with a more significant syndrome in women and in those who had a more severe form of the infection.

«The post-Covid syndrome – said the councilor for health, Riccardo Riccardi – is a phenomenon that we are beginning to know and whose answers cannot be declined with ingenerizable approaches.

A new path will have to be established for these patients, given the different symptoms that each patient presents, and the contribution of general practitioners will be important to guide the paths between the various professionals ”.

Riccardi, therefore, also wanted to open a reflection also on the sustainability of the system by linking it to the appropriateness of the healthcare demand, arguing that it is “a complex issue that the ruling class must put on the agenda and around which the estate is played. services “.

On the current situation, finally, the commissioner stressed the importance of not letting your guard down even if the numbers indicate that Friuli Venezia Giulia can aspire to the white zone.

“Any passage in the white area – he concluded – must not be a free all, common sense and respect for anti-Covid measures are needed”. –
