The Government, through the Vice Ministry of Transportation (VMT) and the National Civil Police (PNC), continues to install anti-doping controls nationwide, which has left 679 drunk drivers behind bars, from January of this year to date.

“We maintain these preventive actions to avoid road accidents, and provide road safety to the entire Salvadoran population that travels on the different roads of the country,” said the director of the VMT, Alfredo Alvayero.

This number of detained drivers represents 48% more than those captured in the same period, but in 2023, as a result of the efforts of the authorities to protect human life from traffic accidents.
