On July 20, Henan Province encountered extremely heavy rainfall. According to the requirements of the National Emergency Department, the Chongqing Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters urgently assigned the Chongqing Municipal Disaster Accident Project Rescue Team to carry equipment to Zhengzhou to carry out emergency rescue work.
Two batches of 66 members of the Chongqing Rescue Team set off from Banan and Wanzhou respectively. In the early morning of July 22, the rescue team from Chongqing’s disaster accident project arrived at the mission area after thousands of miles of assistance.
In response to the accumulated water in the tunnel at the navigation crossing of Jingguang Road in Zhengzhou, rescuers immediately started drainage work. The two “dragon suction” units were operating at full capacity. After more than 8 hours, the pumping and drainage exceeded 18,000 cubic meters, and the water level in the area dropped significantly.
In addition, the remaining rescue personnel of the Chongqing rescue team prepared for duty in Jiaozuo and Huayuankou to study and judge possible dangers in the next step to ensure that they can be dealt with efficiently if there is a danger.
Successfully transferred all trapped villagers in Niuchang Village
Affected by heavy rainfall, flooding occurred in Niuchang Village, Dunfangdian Township, Weihui City, Xinxiang City, Henan Province. The village was flooded and the villagers were trapped. On July 22, according to the deployment of the forward command post, the Chongqing Rescue Team sent eight rescue members, carrying a rubber boat and a self-righting lifeboat to the rescue.
After fighting overnight, at 3 am on July 23, the Chongqing rescue team successfully evacuated all 43 trapped villagers in Niuchang Village, including a critically ill patient.
