A country to protect (Photo)

On April 12, Print for crisis was launched, a fundraiser that involved more than eighty photorepoters living and working in Burma. The campaign was launched to support the work of photographers and journalists who are documenting the country’s crisis following the February 1 military coup. They have often become targets of repression: they have been arrested or injured and the newsrooms have been searched.

“Against all odds and at great personal risk, these professionals are continuing to testify and share what is happening in Burma. This is why the proceeds from the images on sale will go to support their work and their future ”, says photographer Chiara Luxardo, who together with the artist Olga Stefatou founded Print for crisis. “But this initiative is also a way to remember the beauty and independence of the Burmese people,” says Stefatou.

The photos were taken by Burmese and other nationalities photographers. The prints are limited edition and will be shipped worldwide starting June 2021. The fundraiser is open until May 12th.

In the gallery, the names of some Burmese authors have been abbreviated with their initials for safety reasons.
