BORGO VALBELLUNA. Lots of people for the last farewell to Giacomo Sartori: the Zumellese community gathered yesterday afternoon for the funeral of the 29-year-old, with many forced to remain outside the church.
At 3 pm the coffin covered with flowers enters, carried on the shoulders by friends. Meanwhile, in the background, the red color emerges on the others, the one that Giacomo had loved in life. There were no interventions during the ceremony, except that of the brother, who made the moment touching and indelible.
«We are all here for you, Giacomo», Tommaso Sartori began. The young man spoke at the end of a long silence, positioning himself in front of the coffin. «Here with many different colors», he then continued, «to paint this moment. A dark church didn’t suit your spirit. Red reminds me of the hothead you’ve always been. ‘
And then some glimpses of life emerged, moments at the table with Giacomo choosing the color red, Tommaso the blue, and the parents yellow and green. And many other memories, such as the music of the guitar that Giacomo played with simplicity and dexterity, without ever getting tired.
«I have always loved the harmony of your strings», Tommaso later recalled, «so forgive me if I have not been able to understand that some of them were tense. Do not worry: if I really knew you I know that you would have liked to be accompanied here on the notes of the song “two hearts forever” ». A moment of silence preceded the final greeting. “Have a good trip. Love You so much. See you soon », concluded Tommaso.
A thunderous applause then rose in the church.
“Consternation, pain and disorientation dwell within us these days”, were the words of Don Massimiliano Zago, “with thoughts for me without answers. We need a compass to guide us, like the one Giacomo used so many times in the scouts ». The parish priest used familiar tones to describe the young man, whose spontaneity he praised, recalling the moments spent together and which will never return.
«I will not forget our dialogues: thanks for giving them to me. To each of us you have given something. Today is the feast of the guardian angels: we entrust you to them, James. You liked the color red so much and you said that “it is energy in motion”. This is why your life will never end. Hi Jack ».
