According to the China Seismological Station, at 13:54 on November 17, a 5.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in the waters of Dafeng District (33.50 degrees north latitude and 121.19 degrees east longitude) in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, with a focal depth of 17 kilometers.
The epicenter is 45 kilometers from the nearest coastline, 97 kilometers from Yancheng, 276 kilometers from Nanjing, and 254 kilometers from Shanghai. The earthquake caused strong sense of earthquakes in Yancheng, Nantong, Jiangsu, and Nanjing and Shanghai in Jiangsu.
