At 10:50 on November 21, the Provincial Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a cold wave blue warning signal. Affected by the cold air, the minimum temperature in various parts of the province continued to drop by 6 to 8°C, and the local temperature dropped by 8 to 10°C. The lowest temperature in Zhangjiakou and Chengde dropped to -14 to -8°C, of which the Bashang area fell to -20 to -16°C, and the other areas fell to -7 to -4°C.
At 14:31 on November 21, the Municipal Meteorological Observatory issued a gale yellow warning signal. According to the comprehensive analysis of the latest meteorological data, it was controlled by the northwest airflow behind the high-altitude cold vortex. On the 22nd, there were northwest winds of magnitude 5 to 6 and gusts of 7 to 8 in the city during the day. The local area can reach level 9 or above, and some districts and counties may be accompanied by sand and dust weather.
The director of the Municipal Meteorological Observatory Huang Shanjiang said that the formation of the strong cold air was due to the existence of a high-pressure ridge in the Ural Mountains extending to the vicinity of the polar regions. The low trough east of the high-pressure ridge moved eastward, and cold air continued to move eastward and southward to form. Compared with the last cold wave, because no corresponding water vapor was transported to North China, even if the temperature has dropped very low, there was no obvious snowfall in this cold wave.
