In the central area of ​​Valledupar, a man was captured by the National Police, when they discovered that he was carrying two kilos of morphine in a bucket, which was hidden in tamarind fruit inside said container.

According to the authorities, this person, upon noticing the presence of the uniformed officers, took a suspicious attitude and wanted to deviate, which caught the attention of the police, who required him to carry out a search and identification and in the process he admitted that he was carrying said substance that is used to treatments of terminal patients because it helps them improve acute pain.

This citizen was identified as José Ubaldo López Quintero, 58, who did not give details of why he had that substance and for what purposes it would be used.

It was also established that after the capture he was transferred to the URI where he was placed at the disposal of the 62nd Prosecutor’s Office against drug trafficking to answer for the crime of manufacturing and trafficking of narcotics.

“This drug was taken to the judicial police laboratory where it was confirmed that it was morphine,” the Police indicated.
