Major customers and suppliers sit down at the table, willing to consider concrete help for Mel’s factory
BORGO VALBELLUNA. Cautiously encouraging signs arrive for the future of Acc at the end of the table that took place yesterday afternoon between the regional councilor Elena Donazzan, the Veneto crisis unit, the extraordinary commissioner Maurizio Castro and the major suppliers and customers of the Zumellese factory.
A meeting organized just 48 hours after the confrontation that took place on Wednesday morning between unions and Mel’s workers with president Luca Zaia. Confrontation in which the governor himself committed himself to finding a solution to recover the resources necessary for Acc to move forward and hook the Italcomp plan or be put up for sale.
Time, as the 315 employees have been saying for months now, is now tight: on May 31, if the money does not arrive, the Valbelluna plant will close its doors. And it is in the face of this critical situation that President Zaia wanted to take the field and give a mandate to the councilor for Labor to convene this table.
«There is a willingness to explore new solutions on the part of all the players. In other words, a new perspective of continuity is reopening for the Borgo Vabelluna factory », Donazzan writes in a note at the end of the summit where, together with the companies present, he made a detailed examination of the current company situation. The aim of the meeting was to investigate the methods of industrial and financial support by customers and suppliers for the Borgo Valbelluna company.

During the meeting, the results referring to the first quarter of 2021 emerged: turnover increased by 55.3%, sales increased by 53.3%, production increased by 40.7%, with productivity increased by 4.9%. «These numbers reflect the photograph of a company that has a lot of work, a lot of market and many development prospects. For these regions we asked customers and suppliers to make an overall reasoning, believing that the production chain of reference has an interest in the continuity of Acc », says Elena Donazzan.

The customers and suppliers involved shared the strategic nature of the Mel factory and assessed the need to deepen the activation of possible coordinated initiatives with the extraordinary administration in support of the factory.
An agenda of bilateral meetings has therefore been drawn up for next week to give shape to an “emergency plan” that will lead the company towards the port of industrial and financial consolidation. «Acc is a company of great importance for the Veneto region and for this reason the support in all phases of crisis management has always been guaranteed by the Region and its corporate crisis unit. President Zaia personally follows the evolution of the affair in close contact and connection with Minister Giorgetti ”, concludes the Veneto councilor for Labor.
In the coming days, therefore, it will be possible to better outline what the rescue plan for the Mel plant and its 315 employees consists of. –
