Beijing Cultural Envoys Share Chinese New Year Celebrations with People Around the World
Beijing cultural envoys are spreading the joy and traditions of Chinese New Year to people in various countries, creating an immersive experience of the festival customs and adding color to international exchanges. The cultural groups, including inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, have been showcasing Beijing’s unique cultural heritage in Europe and America.
In Paris, the inheritor of Beijing embroidery, Bi Hong, displayed exquisite Beijing embroidery products at the Samaritan department store. In Heidelberg, Germany, local people learned to draw red molds with brushes and write the word “福”.
The Beijing dragon and lion troupe danced on the streets of Lima, Peru, while Han Bing, the inheritor of Beijing shadow puppets, introduced shadow puppets in English in San Francisco, the United States. Additionally, the Longyun martial arts troupe, composed of Jackie Chan disciples, performed kung fu dance in Mexico City. Across Europe and America, various cultural performances and activities have been held to showcase the charm of Chinese culture and welcome the Chinese New Year with people from different countries.
As Beijing enters the Year of the Dragon, the cultural groups have highlighted the 40th anniversary of the establishment of sister cities between Beijing and Lima and the 45th and 60th anniversaries of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States and France, respectively. The celebrations included cultural performances, exhibitions, and flash mobs, allowing thousands of locals to immerse themselves in the joy of the Chinese New Year.
Looking ahead, the “Happy Spring Festival” cultural group will continue to convey the best wishes of the Chinese New Year as they travel to Finland, Estonia, Greece, and other countries, working to strengthen the friendship and understanding between the Chinese people and those around the world.
