The death of a 44-year-old in Lingen (Emsland district) continues to puzzle the police. The man’s body was scheduled for an autopsy on Monday. Results on this are not yet available. The dead man was discovered on Thursday night after a fire in an apartment building. According to the police, the 44-year-old was dead in his apartment. The other residents were able to escape to the outside, but had to temporarily stay with acquaintances and relatives because of the heavy smoke. It is unclear why the fire broke out and how the man died. “We are investigating in all directions,” said a police spokeswoman.
