[Epoch Times, June 16, 2021](Epoch Times reporter Xu Zhenqi comprehensive report) On Tuesday (June 15), the Chinese Communist Air Force dispatched 28 military aircraft to disrupt Taiwan, setting a record for the largest invasion of Taiwan. A few hours later, Daniel Kritenbrink, the assistant secretary of state for Asia-Pacific affairs nominated by U.S. President Biden, made a strong statement: Washington should develop relations with Taiwan in various fields.

Kang Da said that in the face of pressure from the CCP, Washington must show its determination and commitment to fulfill its “rock-solid obligations” to Taiwan.

“We have the responsibility to further develop strong relations with Taiwan in all fields.” Kangda said at the hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Earlier on Tuesday, Taiwan stated that 28 Chinese military aircraft, including fighter jets and nuclear bombers, had entered the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone, which was the largest reported invasion so far.

Beijing’s aggressive attitude towards Taiwan needs to adjust its response

Kang Da was the senior director of Asia-Pacific affairs at the White House National Security Conference, and he served as the US ambassador to Vietnam before assuming his new position. At the hearing, Kangda was asked whether the U.S. government should change its long-term strategic stance from “strategic ambiguity” to a clear commitment to defend Taiwan when the CCP launches an offensive.

He said that the United States’ “One China” policy has ensured cross-strait stability and Taiwan’s security for decades.

Kangda also added: “I do believe that maintaining the status quo and security is a dynamic situation. As threats from (the CCP) grow, as Beijing’s aggression and bullying against Taiwan grow, I think our response must be Calibrated.”

On Tuesday, the leaders of the European Union and the United States issued a communiqué after the summit, continuing the G7 position, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and encouraging peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues.

The communique of the summit entitled “Towards a New Transatlantic Partnership” mentioned China three times.

The CCP is “the main challenge facing the United States today”

At the hearing, Kangda also described China (the CCP) as “the main challenge facing the United States today” and stated that the new guidelines adopted by the Biden administration for Taiwan relations are “significantly liberalized” and “clearly aimed at further development. Relationships and partnerships.”

He also stated that the U.S. government should continue to take measures to hold the CCP leaders responsible for the genocide of Uyghurs and other Muslims in Xinjiang.

“The ongoing genocide (acts) in Xinjiang is shocking,” he said. “We estimate that more than 1 million Uyghurs have been forcibly detained, put in re-education camps, forced labor, and many other allegations of disturbing circumstances. “

“We need to continue to take measures and use all the tools available to the U.S. government to hold the (CCP) leaders responsible for these atrocities.”

The CCP has repeatedly denied the accusation.

Kangda mentioned the U.S. sanctions against CCP officials on the Xinjiang issue in the past, and added: “I promise we will continue to work hard not only to expose human rights violations, but also to take measures to hold those responsible.”

In a tweet, Sophie Richardson, director of Human Rights Watch’s China Department, called Kangda’s remarks about Xinjiang a “strong commitment”; Richardson also added: “(Continue) follow-up is the key.”
