A demonstration of Air Italy workers: all attempts to find new solutions are failing

The liquidation of the company goes on. The unions hope to be able to find a solution for the birth of a new carrier

OLBIA: Continue with collective redundancies. The Air Italy dispute leaves only the hope of extending the layoffs for the 1383 workers of the airline in liquidation. Today the last confrontation between the company and the trade unions took place, and for the former Meridiana employees nothing has changed. «In today’s meeting on the Air Italy dispute, the last day of the first 45 days provided for by the legislation on collective redundancies, there was no news and no progress was made since the opening of the procedure. Now all that remains is to hope for the next 30 days in the ministerial seat »comments the regional secretary Filt CGIL, Arnaldo Boeddu.

“We need time to have at least one chance for an industrial solution. For this we need an extension of the social safety nets for all the time necessary to find a real and lasting solution that does not cancel a reality born over sixty years ago ”, concludes Boeddu.

Disappointment also on the part of the territorial secretary of Fit Cisl, Gianluca Langiu: «We denounce our regret at how this phase has been carried out with respect to the possible solutions that in our opinion must be pursued. We reiterated the need for the layoffs to be extended to have more time available for the construction of an industrial solution that protects Air Italy workers. We trust in the authoritative intervention of the Ministry and the Regions concerned to obtain an extension of the social safety net and at the same time work in concert with the institutional subjects on an employment solution ”.
