Alemagna, show jumping in Longarone and Google Maps goes into the “ball”

by admin

Infinite construction sites focus on Castellavazzo and will go on for months. Just at the hamlet, the geographic service says that the SS 51 is closed

LONGARONE. Old and new problems in the Longaronese road network at the start of the peak summer period.

With the arrival of the height of summer, traffic on state road 51 is increasing which sees part of the road works still not completed and on time the usual critical issues arrive, in particular the problem of the speed of the bike but also some “news” that are exasperating not few residents and drivers who travel for work.

JOBS

Since October the Alemagna has diverted the flow towards the Cadore in the lower part of Longarone and the Anas in 2020 had indicated the completion of the works at the end of August 2021. Half of the construction sites are completed or all the part that goes from the new roundabout of Fortogna, at the junction in the industrial area and the entrance lane of Longarone. The creation of the sidewalks is progressing, which are essentially finished up to the station and even beyond in the area before the hamlet of Roggia.

The bulk of the construction sites is therefore concentrated on Castellavazzo with the creation of the viaducts. The works will go on for a few more months. The traffic lights in the area, which in recent weeks have caused many inconveniences and slowdowns, especially during the intervention on the railway bridge, have been removed.

Until all these interventions are completely completed, it will not be possible to restore the two-way traffic of the Alemagna.

WRONG MAPS

It is Castellavazzo that is at the center of an unwelcome surprise. The popular Google Maps site for a few days has in fact indicated to all those who have to go from Cadore towards the Belluno area a particular route: not along the Alemagna which in that sense has always been practicable but making a tortuous path in the upper hamlets of Longarone such as Olantreghe and Podenzoi erroneously indicating the Statale as closed. Those who live and work in the area pay no attention to it but tourists and truck drivers who usually rely on online maps, especially foreigners, have the opportunity to make mistakes. Some residents have even improvised “do it yourself” signs to indicate the right direction.

MOTORBIKES

In addition to the summer traffic flows with the various columns, the age-old problem is that of the motorbikes whizzing up the slope to go to the dam. The residents of Codissago are exasperated by the noise and the danger of some centaurs.

However, there are the two speed cameras, contested by the Municipality of Erto because they would penalize the residents of Valcellina above all by “making cash” for Longarone but the population asks for the presence of the police on the roads as a deterrent action against high speed, as a fact in other key places in the province such as on the lake of Santa Croce.

RAILROAD

To all this must be added the now inevitable summer appointment or the closure for works of the Calalzo Belluno railway line. Someone hoped that, at least for tourists, this could be an outlet for traffic. Enrico De Col
