This year marks the 50th anniversary of New China’s restoration of its legal seat in the United Nations. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Geneva Office, Hashmi, said in an interview with a headquarter reporter on October 26 that the restoration of the legal seat of the United Nations by New China has had a profound and transformative impact on the world.

Hashmi said that 50 years ago, the United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution 2758, restoring all rights of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations. Pakistan is one of the main sponsors and supporters of this landmark resolution, and they are proud of it. This resolution has had a profound and transformative impact on the world.

Hashmi said: “Firstly, the international order is more peaceful and stable. We have also seen greater development and prosperity in the world. Secondly, the normative foundation of the world order has been strengthened, and the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law have been strengthened. Respect for China has been strengthened and multilateral cooperation has been strengthened. Third, human rights, dignity and needs have also been more recognized. In all these areas, China is a responsible member of the UN Security Council and a staunch supporter of multilateral cooperation.
