An arrest at the Mont Blanc tunnel for aiding illegal immigration

A thirty-five-year-old Portuguese was put on trial

A thirty-five-year-old Portuguese man, SM, was sentenced by the Court of Aosta for aiding and abetting illegal immigration.

This morning, as part of the border controls at the Mont Blanc Tunnel, the agents stopped him driving a vehicle with three foreign passengers who did not comply with their documents, all from New Guinea. Arrested, he was sentenced to one year in prison and to pay a fine of 20,000 euros.

An expulsion order was issued against the three women with order to leave the national territory.
