Mayor Cheney: ‘we would like to avoid starting to apply the sanctions provided by the law’
“Culture synonymous with civilization. Civilization as a source of well-being”. With this motto, the Municipality of Saint-Christophe has launched an awareness campaign against the abandonment of waste.
The municipal administration has sent a ospucolo to the families of the area which summarizes the methods of waste disposal. The leaflet provides information on waste disposal, on how to do separate collection, on when to turn to ecological islands or landfills for aggregates, on how to use the composter and so on.
The idea of the awareness campaign was born to try to correct the uncivilized habits of a part of the population. The councilor for the environment Giulia Gerbore explains: «We have unfortunately had the opportunity to verify that, around the moloks of separate collection, some citizens abandon their waste incorrectly. For an effective collection and a clean and tidy territory, the commitment of the manager and the Administration is necessary, but the collaboration of the citizens is crucial ».
The brochure sent by the Municipality of Saint-Christophe also reminds us that the abandonment of waste is punishable. “The abandonment of waste is a crime – underlines the mayor Paolo Cheney – but we would like to avoid having to start applying the sanctions provided for by the law. We hope that this small tool will help us to improve the situation ».
