[NTD News September 13, 2021, Beijing time]Recently, Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of the Global Times of the Communist Party of China, confronted the leftist literati Li Guangman, which aroused public attention. Some analysts say that behind the two people are Zhongnanhai “big figures” who are publicly calling for battle, and Wang Huning, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Jiang faction who is in charge of ideological propaganda, manipulates public opinion to add fuel to the fire.

Li Guangman, a leftist literati of the Communist Party of China, wrote an article entitled “Everyone can feel that a profound change is underway at the end of August!” “The article was rarely reprinted collectively by dozens of Chinese Communist Party media, which caused an uproar and was considered to have sounded the clarion call of the New Cultural Revolution.

However, “Global Times” editor-in-chief Hu Xijin later publicly challenged Li Guangman, and issued an article through his WeChat public account “Hu Xijin Observation”, claiming that Li Guangman’s article “deviated from the country’s major policies and caused misleading.”

This rare controversy aroused the curiosity of the outside world. Liu Yawei, a senior adviser on China at the Carter Center in the United States, published an article analysis. It is impossible to know who is promoting Li Guangman’s article, but Hu Xijin’s bold criticism is more intriguing.

He believes that what is certain is that this debate shows that there are debates about the achievements of reform and opening up within the CCP, the current level of social and political stability in China, and what kind of country China is going to become.

Radio France’s September 11 review article stated that without the support of “big men”, Li Guangman’s murderous articles could not be reposted by numerous central-level Internet media; and without the support of “big men”, Hu Xijin single-handedly challenged Li Guangman, it seemed incredible. .

Fa Guang quoted analysis as saying that it is at least the ministerial level of the Central Propaganda Department that ordered the central government media to forward it. It seems that only Wang Huning, who is in charge of propaganda and ideology, has such power. If it is Wang Huning’s instructions, it should be approved by Xi Jinping.

Hu Ping, the honorary editor-in-chief of “Beijing Spring”, also believes that Li Guangman’s article was reprinted by several central-level Internet media. It cannot be the meaning of a lower-level official, and must have come from a fairly high-level official’s order.

During the confrontation between Hu Xijin and Li Guangman, Duowei.com, which was accused of foreign propaganda, published an article on September 10 entitled “Following Li Guangman is a major mistake, Zhongnanhai should reflect on it.”

The article stated, “It is undoubtedly a foolish move to pursue Li Guangman. This is an ideological propaganda’add fuel to the fire’… Its realistic impact and high probability will run counter to the expectations of relevant decision makers.”

The article seems to imply that Wang Huning, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Jiang faction who is in charge of ideological propaganda, is the one who “adds fuel to the fire.” However, a NTD reporter on the 11th found that the article had been deleted by Duowei.com.
