by admin

“This scene was born on a day in November 2020, in the middle of the red zone”, explains Andrea Segre, director of the film in the video Welcome Venice. “We were shooting in Giudecca and went to the sandbanks, the lagoon areas south of Venice”.

The film tells the story of Pietro and Alvise, two heirs of a fishing family, and of the transformation of the identity of Venice. While Pietro would like to continue fishing, Alvise tries to join the elite of the city’s real estate power. Their confrontation involves the whole family, in a story about how the world is changing.

Welcome Venice, in Italian cinemas from 9 September, was presented at the Venice Film Festival.

Andrea Segre is an Italian director and documentary maker. He has written and directed numerous documentaries and feature films, including Molecules (2020), The planet at sea (2019) e The order of things (2017).
