Aosta adheres to the European Mobility Week from 16 to 22 September

‘Move sustainable… and healthy’ is the slogan of this twentieth edition of the European initiative

Aosta confirms also this year the usual adhesion to the European Mobility Week, an initiative created to encourage sustainable mobility choices. “Move sustainable … and healthy” is in fact the slogan chosen in this post-lockdown edition to support and maintain some habits forced into the health emergency and travel restrictions.

From 16 to 22 September the capital will celebrate this twentieth edition of the Week by proposing a review of films and screenings at the Cittadella dei Giovani, a conference on mobility and lifestyles with Andrea Poggio of Legambiente and special guided excursions to discover and rediscover the city streets, the paths and the ru of the territory. Not only that: on 18 September in Piazza Chanoux the cycling game “Città di Aosta” will come to life, a gymkana for children and teenagers to approach the bicycle. Sunday 19th the traditional appointment with Bicincittà will return. Also as part of the European Mobility Week, the area of ​​Piazza Arco d’Augusto will be closed to traffic on 18 and 19 September to make room for information and exhibition stands on cycling. Finally, on 22 September, an appointment at the school in the Cogne district for the inauguration of the pedibus / bicibus school transport project that will start with the new school year.

Aosta’s accession to the Sem was presented today at a press conference. «For the first time – says the councilor for mobility, Loris Sartore – the municipal administration wanted to participate with a program that includes initiatives throughout the seven days, and which develop the proposed theme. This is because we strongly support an integrated mobility system, that is to say the offer of a diversified range of modes of travel in terms of environmental, social and economic sustainability “.

Councilor Sartore continues: “This year, in particular, the SEM gives us the opportunity to present the cycle network of” Aosta by bicycle “whose construction works will start from next spring, to illustrate on which lines the Urban Sustainable Mobility Plan ».
