On June 24, 2021, Assistant Foreign Minister Deng Li and Iraq’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Khrullah held the third round of political consultations between the Chinese and Iranian Foreign Ministries through a video meeting.

Deng Li said that Iraq was one of the first Arab countries to establish diplomatic relations with New China. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 63 years ago, the two countries have always understood, trusted and supported each other. In 2015, China and Iran established a strategic partnership, opening a new chapter in the development of bilateral relations. China is willing to deepen political mutual trust with Iran, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of anti-epidemic, energy, and infrastructure construction, expand cultural exchanges, and push China-Iran relations to a new level. China appreciates the unique role played by Iran in the affairs of the Middle East and is willing to strengthen communication with Iran and make unremitting efforts to maintain and promote regional peace and stability.

Hilula congratulates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. He said that Iran attaches great importance to the development of relations with China, thanked China for its valuable support in fighting the new crown pneumonia epidemic, and is willing to strengthen pragmatic cooperation with China under the framework of the “Belt and Road”. He welcomes Chinese companies to invest in Iraq. Iran is also willing to work with China to safeguard multilateralism, oppose external interference, and safeguard the interests of developing countries.
